Abstract

This research was conducted in Lasolo Bay, specifically in Mandiodo Village, Molawe District, North Konawe Regency. The aim of the study was to determine the magnetic susceptibility values, heavy metal concentrations, and assess the sediment quality. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) tests were carried out to obtain the required data. The results showed that the magnetic susceptibility values ranged from 4.5 × 10^(-8) m³/kg to 27.3 × 10^(-8) m³/kg. Based on the XRF measurements, the heavy metals with the highest concentrations detected were Nickel (Ni), Iron (Fe), and Cobalt (Co), while Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn) did not exceed the maximum permissible limits. According to the Pollution Load Index (PLI) analysis, the sediment quality is categorized as polluted, with the geoaccumulation index indicating pollution levels ranging from unpolluted to severely polluted.
